MEDICAL
In case of a life-threatening emergency, or if you need emergency transportation, dial 911.

Maui Memorial Medical Center (hospital) is located at 221 Mahalani Street in Wailuku. It is operated by Kaiser Permanente. Their telephone number is (808) 244-9056. Driving directions are posted in the elevators.

There are a number of urgent care facilities and private medical providers on Maui, including in Kihei. Search the internet or consult a telephone book for options.

FIRE / POLICE
In case of fire, dial 911, pull a fire alarm as you exit the building, and notify the front office or security of details. Dial 911 for police.

HURRICANES and TROPICAL STORMS
Hurricanes are winds in excess of 80 mph that develop in the Pacific Ocean off Mexico. A hurricane can take 3 to 5 days to reach Hawaii. As it approaches, NOAA and Civil Defense monitor its progress and will activate a hurricane watch. Maui Vista Security and Management will implement a response plan as necessary. You will be notified of any precautions you should take.

A tropical storm is a very powerful low-pressure weather system. It has strong winds and heavy rainfall that can be disruptive and dangerous.

TSUNAMI
A Tsunami is a large body of water that is stirred up in the ocean as earthquake fault plates are activated. The surge of water it produces can build or diminish as it travels across the ocean. While they can occur without warning, NOAA has buoys in the ocean in various areas that notify us of an impending Tsunami. A loud siren will be activated if Maui is threatened. (Note: sirens are tested at 11:45 AM on the first working day of each month. Don’t be alarmed if you hear a test.) Maui Vista is located in the “Extreme Tsunami” evacuation zone and should be safe. If not, you will be advised to evacuate. If you are at the beach or other lowland when you hear the siren, head uphill to safety. Radio and television stations will provide updates.

EARTHQUAKES
Earthquakes occur with no warning. Depending on its location and severity, staff will open the Maui Vista Emergency operations Center located on the first floor of Building 3 next to the elevator.
